Last summer I went over several times for evening sessions, and it is one of my favorite places. It’s always good to start off with a full belly, so Thurston’s Lobster Pound is the first stop! Have an early dinner of lobster and steamers, then wash your hands and try to catch the golden light on the lobster boats in the harbor.
The town dock is just north of Thurston’s parking lot, and it is not usually crowded, so you can get some harbor shots. There is a memorial to those lost at sea, although not as big as the man at the wheel in Gloucester.
Another of my favorite places is on the east side of the harbor looking towards Thurston’s. You can get some beautiful evening skies. See: how to take a sunset photo with HDR.
