AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8 ED
I was asked to do a shoot that called for some new gear: an ultra-wide-angle lens. So I pulled the trigger on a new, fantastic lens. I’ve been playing with it for a couple of weeks, and I can happily report: it is awesome! Be warned that it is a bit heavy, but the pictures are worth it. Also, note that the spherical lens means no filters!

I took this picture at Pink Pies in Miami, and you can literally see my fingerprints… later, at the Wynwood Walls, I could get up pretty close, so I didn’t have to deal with people walking through my shots. But, now that I think about it, I guess I was that person cluttering up other peoples’ shots…
The Albury 33 marketing shoot was the job that demanded an ultra-wide-angle lens. I needed to get into the engine compartment, and between the steering wheel and the captain’s bench. It came in handy for tight spaces, like the detail shots below. The images are crystal clear, and I could get in tight spaces to make the boat look even more spacious.
Landscape Image
Look what it can do with a landscape! It surrounds you with the sunrise and the clouds.

This is not meant to be a detailed, technical review; there are many sites for that… This gear review of my new ultra-wide-angle lens is, instead, a summary of my experience. I hope it helps if you are in the market for a new lens.
