This is not an activity for the faint of heart, nor for those who are afraid of heights or falling. This morning there was an article in the Palm Beach Post regarding a delay in the replacement of this bridge, which was found deficient in a 2014 inspection. The replacement of the bridge will take at least 20 months and be hugely inconvenient, so it has been delayed until 2023 – 9 years after the inspection?
Anyway, it is still a desirable angle for photographing the lighthouse at sunrise – or moonrise, which is happening Monday. Earlier in the week, I decided to shoot from the bridge. This was my first time taking photos from the bridge, and it’s slightly terrifying (just saying). It might be me because I don’t like bridges as a rule, and old bridges that are slated for renovations do not inspire confidence, but on this one, the “guard rail’ is about 24” high, and the walkway is about 18” wide – I was sitting in a little area that was larger, but getting there was exciting. And every time a garbage truck went by, my blood pressure spiked.
I stayed for about 45 minutes, and it was beautiful. Here is the series from the morning. It does say something that the bridge tender had to come out and take a photo as well! Beautiful!
The images were taken by bracketing the shots and used Aurora to create the HDR image. (how to take a sunrise (or sunset) with hdr)
jupiter photo locations
Sunrise at Coral Cove
It is super-convenient to have a sunrise location close to home. This is a popular place to watch the sun come up with lots of opportunities to create compositions with the rock formations.
Surf’s Up at the Pier
Juno Beach surfers were riding the waves while I tested my new camera and auto-focus tracking, a view from the pier.
Moonset Over the River
How to get the perfect moonrise? Try moonset! There’s a lot of planning that goes into this, and it doesn’t always work out.
Under the Pier
Including a pier in a photo is an excellent way to add leading lines to your composition. On this day I also had Sahara Dust as a diffuser.
